This morning, I attended the funeral of Edward Colin Lamont Mayall, known locally as ‘Colin’. Colin was a renowned local historian, genealogist and author of several books and hundreds of blog posts on the history of Strathearn and Scotland.
I first met Colin in 2009 when I attended his local history classes in Crieff. Colin inspired me to write ‘Broken Columns‘ and create this website. He is credited in the acknowledgements of the former publication.
Colin’s passion for local history was rivalled only by his love of rugby and people. A true gentleman; conservation with Colin was always a treat.
He will be sadly missed but remembered fondly by all.
