Remembering William Cameron

Today I returned to Dundee’s Balgray Cemetery. William Cameron (Jr) rests on the southern edge of the Cemetery in a familial lair. He died from influenza and cardiac syncope on the 16th of November 1918 aged only twelve.

William Cameron Jr was born on the 27th of April 1906 at 10 Benvie Road to lorry driver William Sr and Elizabeth (nee Woodcock). Shortly before he was born his brother Alexander tragically died aged only two.

At the 1911 Census the Cameron family resided at 7 Corso Street. William aged four was the youngest of William and Elizabeth’s three surviving children.

By the time William died the family were living at 7 Smalls Wynd and had grown with the arrival of James and Vera. William Sr was present at his son’s death. He was interred with Alexander. James would join his brothers in 1946 following his premature death at thirty-two.
